About the consultation
The Comité des Connétables wants your views on litter and dog fouling in public places.
Dropping litter and not clearing up dog faeces is an offence under Jersey law.
The Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel carried out a review of the policing of beaches and parks in 2011. They found that the existing legislation is sufficient and does not need amending, but want to know if more should be done about the policing and enforcement of the law.
We want your views on deciding:
- whether you feel littering and dog fouling in public places is a problem in Jersey
- how to identify offenders
- an appropriate penalty fee to stop further offences
- if we should introduce DNA profiling for dogs
We also want to know if you think the cost of administration and staffing required to identify, catch and charge offenders would be affordable.
