About the consultation
Islanders are encouraged to take part in an online consultation about proposed plans to improve walking, cycling, and bus use in St Johns Village.
The St John’s Village Improvement Board (Parish representatives and representatives from the Infrastructure and Environment Department) have been working on potential improvement options for consideration.
The consultation is open until Monday 2 October.
In June, residents in St John were invited to attend a community workshop event at their Parish Hall to discuss the proposed plans to improve active travel. Constraints to active travel that were discussed includes perceived poor safety, lack of footpaths, and lack of pedestrian crossings.
The Board supports active travel as part of the Island’s response to the climate emergency and roadmap to become Net Zero by 2050. Active travel can reduce car journeys, and associated carbon emissions and community traffic impacts, and provides health benefits from greater activity.
Feedback from both the community workshop event and the online consultation will be reviewed by the Board. This will then be presented to the Minister for Infrastructure.
