Family history research
We hold all birth, adoption, stillbirth, death and marriage records in Jersey from 1842 to present day. And all civil partnership records from 2012 to present day.
The majority of these records are public documents available to everyone.
How to carry out research
There are 2 ways you can carry out research:
- You can make an appointment to view the records by emailing researchsir@gov.je or call +44 (0) 1534 441335. Appointments are a maximum of 60 minutes and only 1 person can attend the appointment. If you're attending an appointment on someone's behalf, you will need to provide their full name and contact details when booking. Appointments cannot be transferred to another person. Only 1 appointment per day can be allocated to any individual. Once you have made an appointment you will receive further information regarding the requirements for this appointment. Records can only be accessed by advance appointment, if you arrive and have not booked an appointment we will not be able to allow access
- Apply online so we can carry out research for you and produce certified copy certificates. This costs £32.31 per hour and the certificate costs £32.31
