Drug Trafficking is defined under Schedule 2 of the Drug Trafficking Offences (Enforcement of Confiscation Orders) (Jersey) Regulations 2008. The below link will take the reader to the relevant legislation:

Four offences within the Misuse of drugs (Jersey) Law 1978 are listed in the ‘Trafficking’ definition.

These offences are:

  • Article 4(1): Importation and exportation of controlled drugs
  • Article 5: Production or supply of controlled drugs
  • Article 6: Manufacture or supply of a scheduled substance
  • Article 8(1): transportation or storage of controlled drugs

During the time period 1 September 2014 to 1 September 2016, the States of Jersey police recorded 22 cases were individuals were arrested, charged or convicted of an offence under the Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978 as listed above. 12 offences in the first year and 10 in the second.

The estimated street value of drugs seized by the States of Jersey Police and Customs and Immigration are recorded annually from January to December. The figures to date are as follows:

The below tables represent the offences and sentencing for each offence identified for each year. The residential status indicates if the individuals lived on the Island at the time of the offence. The letter J indicates the individual was a juvenile under the age of 18 at the time of the offence.

  • Imp= Imprisonment
  • BO = Bound Over
