Brain tumours include a variety of coding as there are variations, such as:
1. Malignant Neoplasm of Meninges
2. Malignant Neoplasm of Brain
3. Neoplasm of uncertain of unknown behaviour of meninges
4. Neoplasm of uncertain or unknown behaviour of brain and central nervous system
5. Secondary Malignant neoplasm of brain and cerebral meninges
6. Benign neoplasm of brain and other parts of central nervous system
7. Benign neoplasm of Meninges

Response

The Hospital implemented a health specific IT system to manage data and reporting in June of 2011. Therefore, we cannot provide statistics prior to June 2011 as this would involve a manual trawl through records, which would go beyond the 12.5hour limit as dictated by the Law.

From 01.06.11 to 31.12.14, there have been no patients admitted and coded as having
Malignant Neoplasm of Meninges.

Exemption

16 A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive:

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed any fee of an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations for the purposes of Article 15.

(2) Despite paragraph (1), a scheduled public authority may still supply the information requested on payment to it of a fee determined by the authority in the manner prescribed by Regulations for the purposes of this Article.

Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
