Have all staff completed equality and diversity training according to the same policy released in July 2014?
If not why not?
Which departments including emergency services identify humans as humans? Regardless of gender, race, religion, oreintation and disability or age?
In the JEP on 24/12/2016 the Bailiff mentioned intolerance which departments are intolerant?
Do laws also include states members and all paid service servants or are they exempt?
Are lawyers and the judicial afforded protection from prosecution?
Response
The States of Jersey Equality and Diversity Policy is available to all employees and is available on the States of Jersey intranet.
It states:
Training on equality and diversity should be available to all existing employees and should be included within every induction plan for all employees joining the organisation.
Included within the training programme should be:
- an explanation of what equality means and why it is important
- an explanation of current and proposed legislation and best practice
- the roles and responsibilities of each employee
- specialised training for those who recruit, select, promote and appraise employees
The policy covers all States departments.
For the purpose of this response, the scheduled public authority is assuming – given the previous questions in the request – that the requester’s reference to ‘laws’ relates to Jersey’s discrimination regulations. As with all Jersey laws they apply to all members of our community.
