Could you please tell me if the States of Jersey own St Saviour's Hospital and its land and, if not, who does own it?
If we do not own it, do we pay rent on the land and how much is that rent?
Response
The building known as Queen’s House, together with the other buildings on the site at St Saviour’s Hospital and the land on which the buildings are situated, is owned by the Public of the Island.
The majority of the south site was ceded and transferred from "The Crown" on 11 September 1863. It was originally known as "La Ferme de la Reine".
The north site, made up of Fields S580, S588 and S589 to the north of the main road, was mostly acquired on the 4 September 1948.
Copies of all the relevant acquisition contracts can be found in the Public Registry. The “Public Registry Index and Document Enrolment” (PRIDE) system can be accessed either at the Public Registry, in the basement of the States Building, or the Jersey Archive.
