Request

Please advise the birthplaces of the current Council of Ministers, the current Chief Officers, and the current heads of States bodies such as The Ports of Jersey, the States of Jersey Development Company, JT, Jersey Electricity, Jersey Water, and Andium Homes. The request is to establish the number of Jersey born people holding leading positions within the Island Government and Government owned bodies.

Response

The information requested is, for the most part, not held by the States of Jersey. The States does not request that Chief Officers, or any member of staff, provide their place of birth. Further, the other organisations mentioned in the request are not currently authorities covered by the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

Some members of the Council of Ministers supplied the information requested at the time of their election. However, this information is absolutely exempt under Article 25 of the Freedom of Information Law.

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
