Methylamphetamine (Crystal Meth) seizures (FOI)

I would like the statistics for how much Methylamphetamine 'Crystal Meth' was seized by the States of Jersey Police or the States of Jersey Customs in the past ten years. This is to include personal seizures of Methylamphetamine, commercial seizures of Methylamphetamine and the number of Methylamphetamine Laboratories the Police or Customs have found and shut down. I would like to state that I would not like to know anything about similar 'legal high' substances that you have seized. This is just about 'Crystal Meth' Methylamphetamine .

Methylamphetamine is controlled under Class A, Part 1 of the second schedule to the Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978.

Seizures of Methylamphetamine and prosecutions of those breaking the law in this area, have occurred within the past ten years. Both the States of Jersey Police and the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service hold information relating to such incidents.

However, Jersey is a small island and information that could aid those wishing to take advantage of a small jurisdiction with limited resources, to import or manufacture controlled drugs of any sort, could prejudice the operations of both the States of Jersey Police and the Jersey Immigration and Customs Service. By divulging specific details of seizures and individual prosecutions, the law enforcement bodies in Jersey would inadvertently be giving implied details of operational capability which could encourage future criminal activity in Jersey or elsewhere. It is therefore believed not to be in the public interest to disclose the information requested.

Consequently, it is believed the information surrounding any current States of Jersey Police or Jersey Immigration and Customs Service operations, past or present seizures or investigations is qualified exempt information under Article 42 (Law Enforcement) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

(a) the prevention, detection or investigation of crime in whether in Jersey or elsewhere:

(b) the apprehension or prosecution of offenders, whether in respect of offences committed in Jersey or elsewhere.

(c) The administration of justice, whether in Jersey or elsewhere.
