Request
I would like to generate more public awareness of oesophageal cancer and would like the following details:
any statistics re these patients in Jersey
as above for Guernsey
as above for all the Channel Islands
as above broken down by gender
as above broken down by age
as above broken down by speed of diagnosis (if available)
as above relating to the effect of speed of diagnosis on the recovery of the patient (if available)
I realise some of these might not be available however any information specific to Jersey and the Channel Islands would be greatly appreciated.
Response
Statistics Jersey can provide information on the number of incidences of oesophageal cancers by year (that is the number of new cases of “malignant neoplasm of oesophagus – C15” diagnosed). The numbers have been rounded to the nearest five to prevent disclosure. As the numbers are small, it has only been possible to provide a breakdown by sex.
The most up to date information available is for 2014.
