Request
Can you please advise of the number of police speed checks undertaken in the last two years on Rue des Pres, St Saviour, JE2 7QL and the number of prosecutions.
Can you also advise of the frequency and number of occasions of when speed monitors have been put in place over the same period.
Response
There is no central States of Jersey Police (SOJP) record to indicate that officers have been directed to conduct speed checks on Rue Des Pres, St Saviour. However, officers on patrol may, at their own discretion, set up a speed check on an “ad hoc” basis. In such cases records of speed checks would be held in the officers’ pocket notebooks.
With over 100 response officers, even estimating 30 minutes to scan through their notebooks for the last two years, would far exceed the cost limit of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, and a requirement to undertake this activity is therefore exempt from disclosure.
No persons have been prosecuted for speeding offences on Rue Des Pres in the last two years.
Neither SOJP, nor any Government of Jersey Department have placed any speed monitors in Rue Des Pres during the last two years.
Additional information may be available from the Honorary Police of St Saviour who may hold separate records concerning speed checks or the placing of speed monitors.
Should you wish to do so you can submit a separate request to the Parishes FOI team at foi@parish.gov.je or to Parish FOI, East Wing, RJA & HS, Trinity, JE3 5PJ.
