What I’m trying to discover how student numbers at specialist performing arts vocational schools and colleges compare to numbers studying Medicine, Veterinary and Dentistry and therefore eligible for the additional funding necessary through Student Finance.
Response
A
There are currently a total of 81 students in receipt of student finance studying a degree or diploma in the subject areas of Dance / Drama / Music / Theatre / Acting and Film.
B
There are currently 50 students in receipt of student finance attending institutes that are not universities.
C
The Education Department have determined that revealing the breakdown of institutes that are not universities where there are less than 5 students attending a particular institute would likely breach the privacy of the individuals and therefore, Article 25 (Personal Information) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
There is one institute attended by more than five students, BIMM Institute (Brighton Campus) where 15 students receiving student finance attend.
D
There are currently 23 students in receipt of additional funding from student finance studying in the areas of Medical, Veterinary and Dentistry.
