Request
How many office buildings does the government rent in Jersey?
Can I get a breakdown of what the office is called, where it is, what departments are housed in it and how much per annum the rent is?
Response
The Government of Jersey (GOJ) currently lease office space in 16 buildings. nine out of the 16 leases are for certain floors or areas as opposed to whole buildings.
The attached table provides details of the office names, location and which GOJ departments occupy them.
Properties rented by the Government of Jersey
The total rental paid out for these 16 properties is £3,354,703.17 per annum.
The rental breakdown requested is exempt under Article 33 (b) (Commercial Interests) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
The disclosure of this information would prejudice the commercial interests of the GOJ and external landlords, as its release would undermine any competitive position when negotiating new lettings, renewals and rent reviews.
It is considered that the likely consequences of disclosure far outweigh the interests of the public in this case.
