Request
Some local Politicians have attended the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Africa.
Can I have a separate break down per Politician, of what they spent on travel, food and hotel costs.
And who travelled first, business or economy class.
Response
Deputies Kirsten Morel, Jess Perchard and Kevin Pamplin attended the 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Uganda.
The cost of flights to and from the Conference was covered by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and there was consequently no cost to the States of Jersey. All three Deputies travelled in economy class.
In terms of food and hotel costs, the following amounts were spent:
| Food | Hotel |
Deputy Kirsten Morel | £113.00 | £651.03 |
Deputy Jess Perchard | £24.92 | £651.03 |
Deputy Kevin Pamplin | £38.70 | £651.03 |
The hotel was paid in US Dollars and the hotel costs shown above therefore provide the equivalent sums in sterling. Food was purchased collectively by the Deputies and the figures shown above indicate the amounts for which each Deputy was reimbursed individually.
In addition, £43.69 was spent for each Deputy for the issuing of a visa and reimbursement was provided for vaccinations: £223.04 to Deputy Perchard and £179 to Deputy Pamplin. As of 17 October 2019, no reimbursement had been provided to Deputy Morel in that regard. £48 was reimbursed to Deputy Morel, however, for the use of a lounge at Dubai airport (by the entire delegation) during travel to the Conference.
