Response

A to C

The police have a duty of confidentiality. The States of Jersey Police do not publish reports or any other aspects of criminal case files unless it is in the substantial public interest to do so. To do so would allow any individual to request any documentation pertaining to any case, so long as it did not breach the Personal data laws. Police files for serious cases are eventually sent to the Jersey Archive and will be made public after a suitable time period to ensure individuals and family are not exposed to public scrutiny.

An individual can request copies of specific records from a crime file if the document is required for legal proceedings or for obtaining legal advice prior to legal proceedings. Reports can be requested on payment from the States of Jersey Police Disclosure unit. Their email address is as follows: CJDdisclosure@jersey.pnn.police.uk

There were three sources of CCTV images seized for evidential purposes. They were processed in house, by States of Jersey Police staff trained in this role. Footage was later sent to the UK to obtain enhanced images and an expert opinion. This was processed by a Lead Forensic Imagery Investigator at LGC Limited (Imagery / Audio), Newmarket Road, Fordham, Cambridgeshire, CB7 5WW.

This report is available from the States of Jersey Police Disclosure unit for a fee.
