Can you tell me the number of cancelled hospital appointments for the individual following years. 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. For those years can you tell me what areas of the hospital they were in for each year and what the most frequent reason was for cancellations in each year. In addition to this, can you tell me how much the average cancelled hospital appointment costs the government.

The most frequent reason for cancellation was “Appointment no longer required by the patient” in all of the years in question.
Information is not held on the cost of a cancelled appointment as these can be used for other patients if appropriate and cancelled in a timely fashion. Please see the following in relation to previously published information that a missed appointment costs approximately £80:
