How many lamp posts are there in each Parish in the Island of Jersey?

To enable us to provide you with information within the 12.5 hours allowable for Freedom of Information requests the focus of our response is based on on-street lighting.

There are various Government of Jersey departments and arm’s length organisations, such as the Ports of Jersey and Andium Homes, as well as all Parishes who are responsible for the administration of on-street lighting, therefore it has been difficult to ascertain a total number of lighting columns provided in each parish.

The transport section of Growth Housing and Environment (GHE) administers the lighting along the main road network. This amounts to 2311 luminaires and around 2000 lamp columns. Asset data has historically been collected on a per luminaire basis. Some luminaires share lamp columns, and therefore we cannot provide an exact figure for the number of lamp columns.

Due to a historic decision the area from the Underpass, the Esplanade and Victoria Avenue are not included in the parish figures and they are recorded separately.

The following table provides approximate lamp column figures where the roads are administered by GHE.
