Request
I would like a listing of all vehicles currently registered by Driver and Vehicle Standards (DVS) up to 1 February 2020.
I require only the following data:
Type of vehicle (ie car / lorry / tractor and so on), vehicle make and vehicle model. If possible include the vehicle year and colour.
Please also provide any data about vehicles that have left the Island and are no longer registered.
Response
We are only able to extract live data from our systems, therefore, the details of the registered vehicles including type, make model, year and colour are provided in the attached spreadsheet at 18 February 2020.
Registered Vehicles
However, it should be noted that the total number of vehicles on the register does not reflect the actual number of vehicles in existence. Unfortunately, despite it being a legal requirement for registered owners to notify DVS within seven days of a vehicle being scrapped or exported DVS is not always notified.
The DVS Register is currently undergoing a data cleansing exercise to obtain a more accurate picture of the number of vehicles still in existence. As it is a large operation, it is envisaged it will take a number of months to complete.
The total number of vehicles marked as ‘exported / no longer registered’ in our systems over the last six years are set out below.
2019 = 1,901
2018 = 2,342
2017 = 2,596
2016 = 2,983
2015 = 2,219
2014 = 2,867
