Response
This investigation has not yet been classed as ‘detected’ and therefore has not been finalised. Should any new evidence come to light, the enquiry may be reopened and investigations continued.
To disclose information at this time could prejudice any future investigations and any following judicial hearing.
Whist it is sometimes in the public interest to release information during an ongoing case, this is only done in exceptional circumstances, where the possible damage caused by any release is outweighed by the possible evidential gain. This case is historic, and release of such information is not believed to be beneficial to the case at this time.
The harm caused by such a release has been assessed and judged that it is likely to lead to prejudice any future trial should new evidence be received. It is not believed to be in the public interest to release any documentation at this time.
