Jersey General Hospital Critical Care Unit consists of a five bedded High Dependency Unit and a five bedded Intensive Care Unit with an additional two isolation rooms. There are a total of 12 critical care beds staffed with seven critical care nurses and a supernumerary nurse. Physical and staff resources are used flexibly depending on the dependency of patients requiring Critical Care.
There are no other critical care beds on the island.
As of 17 March, there were four beds available in the high dependency unit and two beds available in the critical care unit. There were two beds occupied in the critical care unit by patients who are awaiting beds to become available on the general wards.
