Request

How many of the people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Jersey and how many of the people who have died of Covid-19 or a Covid-19 related illness have had an underlying diagnosis of any form of dementia.

Response

Detailed information in relation to deaths from Covid-19 is available on the Gov.je website at the following links:

Office of the Superintendent Registrar

Death certificates provide details of the primary and secondary death causes. This information is completed by the certifying doctor to the best of their knowledge and belief. Additional information on a person’s health and any underlying conditions are recorded in their personal patient record. The death certificates are therefore not a full reflection of a person’s health and their underlying conditions. Based on the death certificates, all deaths related to Covid-19 had at least one other additional death cause, however it is not possible at this time to confirm the exact number of cases suffering from dementia due to the above limitations.
