ITV reported that: Jersey primary school class sent home after child tests positive for Covid-19. The authorities also said, "It is not yet clear how the child contracted Covid-19."

It was also reported that "Health officials have confirmed that they do not know how or when one person in Jersey contracted coronavirus"

Which column heading on the downloadable statistics spreadsheet (see below) do the figures appear for individuals who (1) are not part of travel statistics (2) have no vector of known contacts (as above) so would not appear to be from contact tracing?

COVID-19 figures

Response

Government of Jersey publish data at the following link showing how positive cases since 1st July have been identified:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) tests and cases in Jersey

These figures are respectively under the following column headings in the spreadsheet you provided from Opendata:

  • Positivecasesidentifiedsymptomaticindividualsseekinghealthcare

  • Positivecasesidentifiedinboundtravelactiveinfections

  • Positivecasesidentifiedadmissionsscreening

  • Positivecasesidentifiedplannedworkforcescreening

  • Positivecasesidentifiedcontacttracing

This shows a clear separation of the reason for test of all positive cases.
