Request
I would be grateful if the Education department would explain how it measures the success, and keeps track, of the Postgraduate Jersey Bursary Scheme. In particular I would like to know:
Subject to the time limits, I would like this information for as many years as possible as it will give a more accurate measure of success and compensate for any rogue details,
Response
Student Finance keep in contact with the students throughout their course of study and obtain details of the previous year’s results. At the end of the course, details are obtained and checked that the students have successfully passed. Due to the high standard of the applications each year, the diverse range of subjects and that all students we have results for have passed, shows that the Jersey Bursary scheme is a success.
The Department do not record the actual grade that the student receives, only if they have passed, failed or withdrawn.
The table below represents students who have passed in each academic year:
Academic Year | Number of Students Passing |
2016 / 2017 | 6 |
2017 / 2018 | 8 |
2018 / 2019 | 8 |
2019 / 2020 | 8 |
There have been no fails.
Some students may have withdrawn, had courses delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic or are still studying. The Department have determined that to provide the breakdown of this information would likely breach the privacy of individuals and therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 Law has been applied.
