Request
As a regular cyclist during peak time, over the years I periodically see someone at West Park logging the number of cyclists and pedestrians.
Can you provide these numbers for the last 10 years split by Cyclist / pedestrians and by date of survey please?
Response
The Transport section of Infrastructure, Housing and Environment (IHE) carries out annual traffic surveys on all key routes into St Helier.
These surveys take place between 07:30 and 09:00 on a dry day in May, usually in the second or third week, avoiding bank holidays and the school half term week.
Consideration is also given to ensure that roadworks do not affect any of the locations where the counts are taking place.
There were no traffic surveys undertaken in May 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The following table details the number of cyclists and pedestrians who travelled to St Helier using the Victoria Avenue cycle path. These figures were collected at West Park.
