How many people were admitted into Jersey General Hospital from Covid-19 alone? As in they were admitted to hospital only due to COVID-19 and not due to any other illness, symptoms or any other conditions.
I know you used to show this information in hospitalisations due to Covid-19 but a person could have been in hospital or admitted to hospital and they then tested positive for Covid-19. They would then have been counted as a hospitalisation case due to Covid-19 even though they had other symptoms, illnesses or conditions for which they were admitted to hospital.
I would therefore like to know the exact figure from 1 February 2020 until the 17 June 2021 of people who were admitted to hospital solely for Covid-19 and not anything else.

There were 40 admissions where clinical codes suggest either only acute care for Covid-19 was provided or the direct symptoms resulting from Covid-19, or where it has not been possible to conclusively state whether another condition required during these admissions from coding alone (ie thee are codes present which belong to essential co-morbidities that must always be coded and use the same code whether acute or chronic. As such, a review of the coding cannot conclude whether these conditions required any acute care during the admission).
It has been estimated that to undertake a further more detailed review would exceed the time limit of 12.5 hours under Regulation. Therefore Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive
(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
