How many nurses have graduated from the on island degree per year since the degrees inception in Jersey?

Can the number of trainee nurses also be provided who pulled out of the degree during the course duration?

How many nurses have been registered in the island since 2015 (per year) and can the number of new nurses and retirees be supplied per year since 2015 also?

Can the number of public sector nurses in employment be provided for each year since 2015?

A

79 students have completed the degree programme since inception in Jersey.

B

10 students who started the degree programme pulled out during the course duration.

Information relating to the number of nurses registered on the island is not held by Health and Community Services. Therefore, Article 10 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law has been applied.

A previous Freedom of Information response, titled ‘Nursing Staff Statistics’, has provided data for 2016 to 2021. Therefore Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law has been applied to this request.

Article 10 - Obligation of scheduled public authority to confirm or deny holding information

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), if –

(a) a person makes a request for information to a scheduled public authority; and

(b) the authority does not hold the information,

it must inform the applicant accordingly.

(2) If a person makes a request for information to a scheduled public authority and –

(a) the information is absolutely exempt information or qualified exempt information; or

(b) if the authority does not hold the information, the information would be absolutely exempt information or qualified exempt information if it had held it,

the authority may refuse to inform the applicant whether or not it holds the information if it is satisfied that, in all the circumstances of the case, it is in the public interest to do so.

Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
