Request

A

How many people have died from Covid-19 that have been vaccinated?

B

How many people have died from Covid-19 alone that have not been vaccinated?

C

How many people have died from Covid-19 vaccine and how?

D

Response

A

As at 8 August 2021 there have been 10 COVID-19 registered deaths in individuals who had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Jersey.

It is not appropriate to break this figure down into deaths in fully vaccinated individuals (defined as more than two weeks since receiving the second dose of vaccine) for confidentiality reasons, as numbers are too low (less than five)

B

The remaining 63 COVID-19 deaths that have been reported to date (8 August 2021) were in individuals who had not received any doses of COVID-19 vaccine in Jersey.

Please see link to a previous Freedom of Information response (FOI) “Deaths with the only cause recorded as Covid-19 (FOI)” for an explanation of “Cause of Death” in death registration. Less than 5 of the aforementioned 63 deaths had no other causes of death under sections 1b, 1c or 2 in the death certification.

Deaths with the only cause recorded as Covid-19 (FOI)

This is an estimate based on matching data extracted from EMIS for the purposes of administering the Vaccination Programme to the death registration data. As this matching uses Jersey data only, it can’t be guaranteed that individuals who died with COVID-19 in Jersey were not vaccinated in another jurisdiction.

C

To date there have been no deaths registered where COVID-19 vaccination is listed as a cause of death.

D

Information is publicly available on www.gov.je in response to a previous FOI response therefore Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
