For the years 2010 and 2020 please provide

The number of people over the age of 65 receiving financial assistance from the States towards private sector rental payments.

The total amount of such financial assistance.

Following an extensive review of systems, it has been concluded that the information, as requested for 2010 is not held in recorded form. To answer the request, the data would need to be extracted from various sources and manipulated, aside from taking more than the prescribed 12.5 hours to do that work, the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 does not require a Scheduled Public Authority to manipulate data in order to provide a response. Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has therefore been applied.
It is not possible to give a meaningful figure that spans the entire year due to the natural turn-over of Income Support claims, however it is possible to provide this data for end of year snapshots. Whilst CLS do not hold data prior to 2012, the data provided from 2012 gives a yearly view in the table below. Please note, the first set of data covers the number of claims and the second, the participants on the claims, ie there may be more than one person included on a claim.

As the value of Income Support paid to a particular household depends not only on the mix of components that it is entitled to, but also on the other income received by the household, it is not straightforward to report on the value of each component in the total expenditure for Income Support.β
