Request

Have there been any complaints about noise and vibration from the Jersey Electricity Company substation which is situated at the Drury Lane end of College Gardens?

If so, how many complaints have been made?

Response

We have conducted a search of the Environmental and Consumer Protection (ECP) system from 2013 to 7 April 2022 using the search term 'JEC Substation' since the current ECP was installed in 2013.

In order to protect the identity of individuals, disclosure control has been applied to this response as complaint numbers are fewer than five. Therefore Article 25 (Personal Information) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

It should be noted that due to search limitations within the system there may be further complaints which have not been identified by this search.  For example, if the complaint was logged against the complainant's property and not specifically against the substation it would not be picked up by the search.

Article applied

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(3) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005; and

(4) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
