Request

I am curious about reports for UAPs in Jersey because I have very good footage of some in our space which is available now on you tube, knowing this to be a real global and safety issue I would like some more information on regards of other reports of people reporting such incidents in and around Jersey.

What is Jersey currently doing to help the island de stigmatise the issue so more transparency can be gathered to help people come forward and report such sightings to help keep our air space safe.

China is now using AI technology to help register and investigate such occurrences in there air space.

Are we currently working with other agencys or goverments around the world to share information?

As you can understand this now is a very real situation and as much transparency on the topic should be put forward.

In regards too Jersey Ports this answer needs to be answered by the goverment.

Response

A "UAP" has been taken to mean "unidentified aerial phenomenon". Using the search terms "UAP", "UFO", "strange lights" and "lights in sky", the States of Jersey Police's (SOJP's) incident log database has been interrogated.

One relevant incident is recorded. On 2nd August 2014, a caller at Gorey reported seeing red and green lights out to sea. Enquiries ruled out the possibility of a distress flare. No aircraft or ships were identified in the area at the time. There remains the possibility that it was a drone.

While SOJP will always treat genuine concerns from members of the public seriously, there is no project currently in place to reduce any perceived stigma surrounding the reporting of such occurrences.

SOJP are not currently working with outside agencies or governments on this subject.
