The building was not designed as fully air conditioned but a mix of natural and mechanical ventilation. The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) suites, hall, lecture theatre, Special Educational Needs (SEN), and conference suite only are fully air conditioned. This was designed by TNG Consulting Engineers as Performance Specified Works and priced and designed by them in conjunction with sub-contractor Brady and Gallagher and Breathable Buildings Limited.

Practical completion was issued 28th July 2020. The Certificate of Making Good Defects was issued on 4th May 2022, delayed beyond the usual 12-month period by the need to undertake works around school operational times and seasonal planting. A retention sum was held back until the Final Certificate was issued on 31st May 2022.
