Would you provide the following information for the last 10 years please.

A

The annual percentage increase in the Jersey pension monthly payments.

The month that the calculation is made.

B

The annual percentage rate increase for income support payments, if this differs per component then please supply them separately.

The month that this is calculated in any given year.

Please see the table below, as indicated, the rates are all from 01 October in the relevant year.

Please see spreadsheet below for details of income support rate increases and percentage increases from 2014 to 2023. The data required to answer this question for the period prior to 2014 is not held.

Information regarding the month in which the rate changes took place is available on the Income Support (Jersey) Regulations 2007, in the Table of Legislation History. This also includes any rate changes made prior to 2014. This is accessible on the Jersey Law website:

Article 10 and Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 therefore apply.

Article 10 - Obligation of scheduled public authority to confirm or deny holding Information

(1) Subject to paragraph (2), if –

(a) a person makes a request for information to a scheduled public authority; and

(b) the authority does not hold the information, it must inform the applicant accordingly.

Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
