The Emergency Planning Officer is a legally appointed position (Emergency Powers and Planning Law 1990). The Justice and Home Affairs Chief Officer carries the portfolio for Emergency Planning, which currently sits within the Fire and Rescue Service. The Justice and Home Affairs Chief Officer reports to the Minister for Home Affairs.
