How many Jersey Government politicians run Facebook social media profiles; accounts that include personal (full name), personal (tweaked name) and alternate characters (pseudonym)?

A, B and C 

There are no Ministers who have Facebook pages in their capacity as Members of the States of Jersey. Information is not held as to any Facebook accounts managed or owned by Ministers in a personal capacity. 

Individual States members are not covered by the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 (the Law) in their own right. Members do not have any obligations under the Law in an individual capacity and are not listed as a scheduled public authority. 

Article 3 of the Freedom of Information Jersey Law (2011) applies.

The only official social media account for Ministers is for the Chief Minister @ChiefMinJSY

There is a Twitter account for the Ministry of External Relations @GlobalJerseyCI (which also has an Instagram account, also called GlobalJerseyCI).

The Government of Jersey does not monitor or provide input for social media accounts held by Ministers in a personal capacity.

Article 3 - Meaning of “information held by a public authority”

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
