Request
How many people have died annually of an aneurysm or blood clot related issue over the past ten years broken down monthly.
Response
In the 10 years between 2012 and 2021 in Jersey, there were 78 deaths in total due to the conditions outlined below. Within this period there have been fewer than five deaths monthly with these cause of death codes. Due to the low numbers involved it is not possible to provide a monthly breakdown. Disclosure control is applied to avoid identification of individuals. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Due to the delays which can sometimes occur with registration of deaths, and the time it takes for death cause to be coded by the Office for National Statistics (UK), it is standard for mortality to be reported in arrears. As per the public health intelligence publication schedule:
Information in respect of total deaths in 2022 is due to be published in September 2023. Data for this response includes the 10-year period from 2012 to 2021, which is the most recently available complete data.
The table below represents the ICD10 codes used to identify the following conditions in underlying cause of death. These codes are based on ONS definitions for reporting on deaths due to blood clots and aortic aneurysms.

I71 (I71.1 to I71.6) | Aneurysms
