Request
Please advise how many complaints have been made against the States of Jersey Police Chief Officer and the Deputy Chief Officers in the last three years and what has been the outcome?
Response
In the past three years there have been three complaints to the Minister, which were all made in relation to the Chief of Police.
One is complete and the outcome was that the complaint was not upheld.
Two complaints are ongoing and therefore the outcomes are not yet known.
Complaints made via the Jersey Police Complaints Authority (JPCA) are not subject to the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, however they do compile an annual report, which is available at:
JPCA Annual Report 2021.pdf (statesassembly.gov.je)
JPCA Annual Report 2022.pdf (statesassembly.gov.je)
The JPCA Annual Report for 2023 is due for completion in April 2024. On completion it will be sent to the Minister for review. Once reviewed, the Minister will supply it to the States Assembly, at which point it will be published on the website:
statesassembly.gov.je
There is no set date when this will be publicly available.
