Can you please tell me the percentage of students achieving 5 or more A grades at GCSE in 2015 at each of the state funded secondary schools?

Response

SchoolPercentage of pupils achieving five or more A or A* grades in GCSEs or equivalent exams
Grainville, Haute Vallée, Le Rocquier, Les Quennevais*2.9%
Hautlieu Secondary School35.2%
Jersey College for Girls63.2%
Victoria College56.7%

*In the non-selective maintained schools, only a small number of pupils achieved the five or more A or A* grades in GCSE or equivalent examinations. Therefore, data for these four schools has been combined in order to protect the identity of individual pupils.

Results presented above have been analysed according to 2013 UK Department for Education methodology, ie pre-methodological reforms. Other methodologies are however available.

It should be noted that it is extremely difficult to compare the performance of Jersey schools on an attainment measure such as the percentage of pupils attaining five or more A or A* in GCSE or equivalent qualifications.

The make-up of each Jersey school is very different in terms of pupils’ prior academic ability, first languages spoken, range of special educational needs, etc.

A fairer comparative measure is the proportion of pupils in each school making the expected amount of progress across Key Stage 3 and 4 or Best 8 Value Added (another measure of pupil progress).
