Table 1 details the number of elective public laparoscopic procedures completed at Jersey General Hospital per year, from 2017 to 2023. Cases meeting the criteria for inclusion have been identified by the procedure codes assigned to the episode of care in the Electronic Patient Record. Multiple codes may be assigned for laparoscopic procedures. Each admission is counted once only, even where multiple codes have been assigned to a patient in an admission. Where Clinical Coding is incomplete, Theatre code assignment has been utilised, and the data reconciled to mitigate against erroneous code attribution in specialties where minimal access procedures would not employ a laparoscopic approach.

Table 2 details the number of elective public procedures that were cancelled per year, from 2017 to 2023, where an intended procedure was recorded as ‘laparoscopic’ at the time of booking (procedures may not have been / be laparoscopic when ultimately performed).

Table 3 details the number of elective public procedures that were cancelled per month, from January 2024 to February 2024, where an intended procedure was recorded as ‘laparoscopic’ at the time of booking (procedures may not have been / be laparoscopic when ultimately performed).
