For the purchases of residential property between 2015 to 2023​, please confirm the following:

A

Total number of residential property acquisitions for each year and the total number of residential property acquisitions by Jersey born people or people who have lived in Jersey for more than 15 years at the time of acquisitions.  Please break the response down by the these age brackets <20 years, 21 to 25 years, 26 to 30 years, 31 to 35 years, 36 to 40 years, 41 to 45 years, 45 to 50 years, 50 plus years.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from the UK.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from the EU (except Poland and Portugal).

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from Portugal.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from Poland.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from the African countries.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from India and Pakistan.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from Philippines.

Total number of residential properties acquired by people who have arrived and were resident in Jersey from the rest of the world.

For all of the above, please break the responses down into the following categories:

  • ​Were resident for 0 to 2 years
  • Were resident for 3 to 4 years
  • Were resident for 5 to 6 years
  • Were resident for 7 to 8 years
  • Were resident for 9 to 10 years
  • Were resident for 11 to 12 years
  • Were resident for 13 to 15 years

Response

The specific statistics requested are not held by the Government of Jersey.  In particular, within the administrative systems used to record property transactions, the demographic data, such as length of residence and country of previous residence, is not captured or used to group purchasers in the request.  Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

This covers annual property sales by price band. Includes all flats, houses and bedsits sold via the royal court or share transfer, apart from: age restricted properties, First Time Buyer Properties and those sold through the Housing gateway.

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.​
