Request

Can you provide a breakdown of both GCSE and A-Level exam results (% of each grade type achieved) for the years 2024, 2023 and 2022. This does not need to be specific to subject type but overall % of grades. Can you please provide in an easy to read table with results for each of the main secondary schools including state-subsidised (JCG, Victoria College) and if possible Beaulieu and De La Salle.

This data is not easily or openly accessible with GCSEs results being aggregated and compared to UK data on the states of jersey website. Individual secondary schools also have differing reporting measures e.g. grade % or proportion of targets reached which make comparison difficult if not impossible. Breakdown of subjects not required as I am aware of risk of identifying pupils due to small numbers. Overall % of grade type for each school will not identify individual pupils.

Response

Please find attached a breakdown of both GCSE and A-Level exam results as a % of each grade achieved for the academic years 2024, 2023 and 2022 for all students in Government of Jersey secondary schools.

Please note Beaulieu and De La Salle are not applicable to Freedom of Information requests. Please check their websites.

The results in this table include full course and double award GCSE and IGCSE qualifications only. Students may take other Level 2 qualifications.

In addition, a total of 26 GCSE's using the A* - G grading system were achieved across all Government of Jersey schools for the 3 year period, however, these results cannot be provided as percentages as it would likely breach the privacy of individuals. The Department has determined that to disclose small numbers would likely breach the privacy of individuals and therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 Law has been applied.

Results are reported in the year that students complete Year 11, however, results may have been gained when the student was in a previous year e.g. Year 9 or Year 10.

Where a student has achieved more than one result in the same subject, only their best result has been included.

A Level results include A Level and International A Level qualifications only. Students may take other Level 3 qualifications.

Results are reported in the year that students complete Year 13, however, results may have been gained when the student was in a previous year.

Where a student has achieved more than one result in the same subject, only their best result has been included.

The Department has determined that to disclose small numbers would likely breach the privacy of individuals and therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 Law has been applied.
