Request
In the period 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024, please confirm how many ambulance staff were signed off following an incident at work that caused them health issues - either mental (e.g. stress, PTSD) or physical (e.g. injuries obtained from attacks, smoke damage to lungs).
For the same period, please also confirm how much was spend on agency staff to cover the costs of these absences during this time? I am only interested in looking at absences caused by staff being signed off for mental or physical health issues)
Thank you!
Response
Unfortunately, our systems do not breakdown absence separately for work-related physical or mental health issues or personal-related physical or mental health issues. Therefore, the information is not held in reportable format and Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
Because our systems:
- Do not breakdown absence separately for work and personal-related sickness absence
- Do not necessarily breakdown where agency staff specifically cover sickness absence from other staffing shortfalls
We do not hold the requested information in reportable format and Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
Article Applied
Article 3 - Meaning of “information held by a public authority”
For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –
(a) it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or
(b) it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
