1. What’s the annual budget in the Education Department for discrimination training to its staff and to school staff and teachers (broken down by school and staff level if possible).

2. What is the annual training budget for teaching assistants broken down primary and secondary schools and budget per head. 

3. How many teaching assistants are employed by the states in each school at FTE. 

At Grainville school 

4. how many of them have professional qualifications at the point of employment.

5. How many at the point of employment have more than 3 years previous TA experience. 

6. How many in % terms have received training once employed. 

7. What’s is the average annual turnover of TAs at Grainville 

8. How many received ongoing training in order to be able to understand the children they are assisting needs. 

9. How many funding requests have there been from Grainville school to provide training to their staff. How many of these were accepted or refused.

1. Each school received an annual training budget.  This is calculated using the number of pupils and staff in the school; it does not distinguish between teaching and non-teaching staff.

The following table represents employees on the ‘Teaching Assistant’ Pay Scale in each school broken down by headcount and the full-time equivalent headcount as at 31st January 2025.  This includes teaching assistants, learning support assistants, keyworkers, technicians, lunchtime supervisors and nursery officers.

7. It is not possible to provide the turnover rate requested. To provide an accurate response would require manipulation of data. 8. Grainville School, in line with other Government of Jersey schools, runs whole staff training (for teachers and teaching assistants) in line with identified school priorities. This year teaching assistants have attended training on ADHD, ASD, Trauma informed practice such as attachment and self harm, as well as Maybo training. Every teaching assistant will undertake an annual performance review which will include identification of training needed and agreed.

9. There have been no funding requests.
