The Education Department has determined that this information is exempt under Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011, as it is estimated that it will take in excess of 12.5 hours to collect the information. 

Grant applications can be refused for a number of reasons:

• Student Finance does not cover the course applied for

• the applicant already has a degree at the same level

• the applicant does not have the qualifications required, ie two A-levels or the equivalent

• the applicant does not match the residency criteria

Students are also not entitled to funding if the household income is above the stated threshold. However, this would not be considered a refusal.

Exemptions

Article 16: A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive:

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed any fee of an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations for the purposes of Article 15.
