Summary
While outbreaks of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) continue in many coutries within the European Union, the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey have not had a recorded case of bTB since 1952 and 1937 respectively.
The purpose of this study was to analyse current surveillance strategies for both Bailiwicks in order to provide:
- a quantitative estimate of the probability that the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey are bTB free
- a recommendation of alternative surveillance strategies that could be used under conditions of confirmed official disease freedom
