This analysis uses Census 2011 and 2021 data to explore a number of indicators which are associated with material deprivation, looking at how these vary across Jersey, and combining them into a deprivation index to indicate which vingtaines are likely to be more or less materially deprived, relative to other vingtaines.
This analysis has been produced by a Statistics Jersey project team funded by the Covid Recovery Fund. The Covid Recovery Insights Project team are using administrative datasets from across the Government of Jersey to produce insights on which socio-demographic groups were more affected by the covid pandemic, and therefore how best to support our community to recover from the pandemic. This initial work, using Census 2011 and 2021 data, provides context and knowledge which will feed into the wider project. Further outputs will be produced from the project team through 2023.
An updated report was published on 13 December 2022. The updated version has no change to the analysis or outputs, but the descriptive labels were adjusted to improve clarity over the methodology used.
Figures 3 and 4 on page 6, and also Table 3 on page 18 have been updated on 27/03/2023 following a minor formatting error in the graphs. Several vingtaines in these graphs should have fallen into the ‘Slightly Lower’ category instead of being in the ‘Neutral’ category and therefore should have been coloured light green instead of white. This error does not impact any commentary in the report or any other graphs
