Summary
​​The Retail Sales Survey was launched in April 2007 and collects information on the performance of the Island's retail sector on a quarterly basis. It provides an early short term measure of economic activity in Jersey.
The Retails Sales Survey for Quarter 1 (Q1) 2011 shows that:
- the seasonally adjusted volume of retail sales in Q1 2011 was 5% higher than the same quarter a year previously
- this represents the third successive quarter recording an increase in the volume of retail sales on an annual basis
- the total volume in the latest quarter, Q1 2011, was similar to that of almost 3 years ago in Q1 2011 the volume of retail sales in predominantly food stores was 1% higher than a year earlier
- the volume of retail sales in predominantly non-food stores in Q1 2011 was 7% higher than a year earlier
