This report covers the inspection by the Scottish based, independent Care Inspectorate between January and May 2011 of Jersey's services for Looked After Children, who are those in foster care, adopted, or living in residential homes.
The inspection team who worked in the Island consisted of:
- 4 senior inspectors from the Care Inspectorate
- 2 youth ambassadors
- the Chief Social Work Advisor to the Scottish Government
The States of Jersey, under the auspices of the Children's Policy Group, approached the Care Inspectorate to carry out the inspection.
10 key areas of the services provided for Looked After Children were evaluated during the inspection process, and as a result of the inspection, the Care Inspectorate has made 14 recommendations.
Of the ten areas evaluated:
- 2 were found to be good
- 3 were found to be average
- 5 were found to be weak
