A primary function of the Jersey Appointments Commission in overseeing the recruitment of States employees, as well as appointees to States-supported or related bodies, is to ensure that the selection is fair, efficient and conducted in accordance with best practice and procedures. The commission produces 3 complementary guides on recruitment and selection.
The recruitment code sets the principles and processes to be applied in recruitment and selection activities for all appointments and sets out requirements for aspects of the appointment of public sector employees. This code covers:

- use of recruitment agencies / consultancies
- accounting for recruitment decisions
- complaints
- appointment processes that are not compliant
- interpretation of key principles

- members of the commission
