Purpose of the Report
To seek to confirm the intention to add the farm building opposite Les Catieaux, Rue des Catieaux, Trinity as a Building of Local Interest (BLI) on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey.
Background and discussion
The Assistant Minister previously considered a report on the matter prepared by Jersey Heritage dated 17 February 2009 and determined that the farm building opposite Les Catieaux, Rue des Catieaux, Trinity was of sufficient interest to warrant its addition to the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a Building of Local Interest. A Notice of the Assistant Minister’s intent was served on the owners of the property on 10 March 2009 in order to provide an opportunity for representations to be made.
No representations have been received.
Legal and resource implications
The inclusion of buildings and places in the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey is consistent with the purposes of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002.
Recommendation
The Jersey Heritage recommendation is to add the farm building opposite Les Catieaux, Rue des Catieaux, Trinity to the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a Building of Local Interest.
Reason(s) for Recommendation
The particular interest of the farm building opposite Les Catieaux, Rue des Catieaux, Trinity, as identified and described in the report and relative to the published criteria for selection, justifies its inclusion on Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a BLI, and;
It accords with the States Strategic Plan commitment of protecting and sympathetically managing the Island’s built heritage assets.
