MOTOR VEHICLES (DRIVING LICENCES) (AMENDMENT NO8) (JERSEY) ORDER 2007
INCREASE IN FEES 2008
PURPOSE OF THE REPORT
To consider the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment No 8) (Jersey) Order 2007, which will increase fees from 1st January, 2008.
BACKGROUND
On the basis of Ministerial Decision MD-T-2007-0086, it was decided to increase fees for driving test services provided by Driver and Vehicle Standards by approximately 2.5 percent, in line with States policy.
DISCUSSION
The Law Draftsman was asked to prepare the necessary changes to the Order on the basis of a brief provided by the Department.
The draft Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment No8) (Jersey) Order 2007
is attached for the Minister to make the Order. Making the Order will implement the increase in charges and will come into force on 1st January, 2008.
RECOMMENDATION
The Minister is recommended to make the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment No8) (Jersey) Order 2007 and request the Department to take the necessary action to implement the Order.
REASON(S) FOR DECISION
To make the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment No8) (Jersey) Order 2007, to allow an increase in fees in line with States policy.
ACTION REQUIRED
Minister to sign, seal and date the said Order.
Request the Publications Editor to publish details of the said Order in the Gazette.
DVS to amend its website and driving and theory booking systems.
